The use of methamphetamine (“P”, meth or ice) is increasing in NZ. It’s a daunting statistic and one that cannot be ignored.

John & Lynn at HouseCall are able to test for the presence of meth. contamination.

We use simple Check-4-Meth kits, which give an instant, accurate present / not present result, to a very low threshold.

We offer testing at an affordable $195 for an average sized house, where we take 2 separate tests. This fee is further discounted to $155 when done in conjunction with a building report.

Discounts are also available for multi-unit properties and repeat testing.

If you are buying a home for yourself or family, we recommend testing to a trace level of 1.5ug/100cm2.

We can also test to the higher threshold of 15ug, which was recently confirmed by Government as the maximum legal limit for rental properties.

In the event of a positive result, further lab-based testing is recommended to determine the levels of contamination.

If you sell or manage a property, you are responsible for ensuring it is safe to live in. Landlords and property owners could face legal action from tenants, new owners or neighbours if there is contamination.

In many cases landlords insurance may not cover meth decontamination or repairs to the home and the owner could be hit with the repair costs. Check with your insurance company.
